Last Days of Summer... First days of SCHOOL

** Lots of pictures (Can't remember how to make collages right now) ....

Sara, Jessica, and I
Rebecca and I

This past week, I spent as much time as I could with some of my favorite people.  I spent Wednesday at church loving on some of my favorite kiddos, Thursday having drinks with Rebecca, Friday with the Burrdett family, dinner with the inner circle. Saturday hanging with the Klusty kids, Sunday hugging my nursery family good bye, nearly crying as I hugged the Klusty twins, and then headed to the beach with Jessica and Sara.  It was the perfect way to wrap up my summer in California.

Packed and Ready for....
.......Arizona
Monday, I loaded up my car and headed for Arizona- it was THE scariest drive I have EVER driven between the two states as I hit several rainstorms.  These weren't the few minutes of rain that I am use to now because of monsoons, it was so bad that every car had their emergency flashers on and was traveling about thirty mphs.  Thankfully, once I hit Arizona the roads were dry but there was still some sprinkles hitting my windshield.  I made it home in my normal 5 hours; however, it took me thirty minutes to unload my car.   As I was getting ready to go to bed, I checked Facebook and saw a girl from my cohort post that school was starting Tomorrow (Tuesday) quickly I checked my email and sure enough, I overlooked in recent weeks that our start date had changed.  In that moment, I have never been so thankful for a simple Facebook status!

What I wore Tuesday to meet my mentor teacher :)
Tuesday the girls and I meet up at Pal with our program mentor teacher and were also greeted by our general edu mentor teachers.  I had emailed Mrs. G the first day I received who my teacher was to introduce myself and see if I can help in any way over the summer.  I was excited to meet her and clicked with her in person!  She is a pretty amazing lady; I can already tell! As I explained to my mom yesterday afternoon, Mrs. G is the perfect mix between my mom and Lee Anne.

What I wore Wednesday for my "first day"
Wednesday would start my first "work for no pay" day with Mrs G and the rest of SCES staff.  We started the morning with the usual Welcome Back to School meeting; however, the school is going through some huge changes- a whole new front office including Principal!  During this time, I met the rest of my first grade team (who are all pinterest freaks too!)- Mrs F and Ms D, it is safe to say I already like them!  I am so grateful that they accepted me as part of their team and not just a person there to observe, which is always a worry.  The team and PE coach even invited me to go to lunch with them and it was a hoot.  If today had any indicator on what I have to look forward to for the rest of the year, I am in for a treat and will be learning from three of the best teachers at SCES (I was told they were the best team to be apart of by a couple staff members)

I ended the day at school (8.5 hours worth) by helping Mrs. G get some of the classroom set up and we will continue finishing it up this week; since, students return a week from today! Anyone who knows me knows the last few years I had the chance to help Lee Anne in her classroom and it was/is something that I have missed, so much this summer which made it even better for me to be with a teacher that appreciated that I wanted to help.  Tomorrow, we'll also be working on our lesson plans as a team and they ASKED for my input!!! :)  It is safe to say that I wake up giddy and with a smile even if my body is still on summer schedule and I am operating on a few hours of sleep.

***For my teacher friends who read this...... I hope you are all enjoying your first few days back or your last few days of summer!
